We are currently looking for a Lead Software Test Developer to join the testing function within our Technology department. This role will be based at our Reading head office. We will require the post holder to have senior/lead testing experience as they will be owning the management of testing projects.

Role Purpose:

Provides technical testing support in the Technology team at Yell, working on a variety of applications and platforms and supporting technologies, related products and services, and the needs of internal & external customers.

Role Responsibilities:

• Participate in scrum teams as a Lead Tester
• Recommend and document Test Approach for projects to include both functional and non-functional elements.
• Design, plan, create and execute technical tests. Automate as needed and work with development resources to achieve quality software delivered in an Agile methodology.
• Identify test tools, test environments, test data, test harnesses needed to ensure successful testing of sprint deliverables.
• Manage defects ensuring they are correctly reported, tracked and retested in line with the test plan.
• Effectively escalate issues to appropriate personnel, particularly sprint or release test/quality related.
• Contribute towards the development and Implementation of quality improvement plans of the Test and QA group processes and procedures.
• Takes responsibility for self development in the role to be able to be effective in the achievement of personal and departmental objectives.

Essential skills:

• Senior level technical skills and lead tester capabilities
• Graduate calibre with Computer Science or equivalent degree
• Software testing trained
• Experience with common Operating Systems e.g. Linux and Windows
• Working knowledge of Relational Databases and SQL
• Strong experience with test tools including QC, Selenium and QTP
• Strong knowledge of scripting languages eg.JavaScript, VBScript and its application in a technical test environment

Desirable:

• Software development skills in Java/ Linux environment, web services and XML processing
• Experience of SAP
